Wilderness Aware Rafting is in the process of accepting guide applications for the summer of 2006 river season. 1st year guides will earn $50 per day and can expect to gross approximately $2800 from mid-May through late August. Experienced guides can expect to earn up to $8,500 a season. We offer guide housing for all of our guides.



Wilderness Aware Rafting operates on six Colorado and Arizona rivers including the Arkansas, Dolores, Gunnison, Salt, North Platte, and Upper Colorado. Trips range in duration from ½ days to 10 days in length and range in difficulty from class III to Class V.

Our main office is located in Buena Vista, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains where we are surrounded by the 14,000’ peaks of the continental divide. We offer a variety of rafting and adventure opportunities including world-class whitewater, extended multi-day wilderness trips, guided float fishing, inflatable kayaks as well as guided mountain biking, horseback riding and jeep tours.

We have been hosting quality whitewater adventures in the Rocky Mountains since 1976. Wilderness Aware Rafting has twice been named ‘Colorado Company of the Year’ and is the premier outfitter in the state.

Previous rafting experience is NOT necessary. We provide all the necessary training needed to produce top quality professional river guides.

Wilderness Aware will only hire self-starting, creative, friendly, dedicated and hard working applicants. Our clientele expect the best raft trips in America. Applicants should be prepared to be team players and become professional river guides working to exceed our guests' expectations. Applicants should also be willing to respect and be respected by their managers and fellow employees.
